Hexa Ingenieros has been partnering with Grupo Modelo — currently part of Anheuser-Busch InBev — since 2001 and has worked with the group’s Zacatecas plant since it was built in 2003. As the factory is constantly updated with the latest control software, it’s fully prepared to receive future Industry 4.0 investments such as the one being implemented at present.
This time around, Anheuser-Busch InBev is building a new malting plant in its factory in Zacatecas to increase its malt production to meet the brewing facility’s growing demand.
For the entire structure to work properly, the newly engineered system will have to be interfaced with the current one to integrate the new malting plant’s equipment — essentially, the steeping tanks, germinators and kiln — with the existing architecture, especially the barley and malt storage bins.
The new malting plant’s control system will be based on Siemens PCS7 technology, which the current system is built on and on which the group has long relied.
